About The PRIME Trial
The PRIME Trial is a clinical study that focuses on improving treatment outcomes for pediatric out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (POHCA). The trial evaluates the effectiveness of administering intramuscular (IM) epinephrine during resuscitation efforts in children experiencing cardiac arrest outside of a hospital. Led by a team of experts, this open-label, stepped-wedge cluster randomized controlled trial assesses whether IM epinephrine reduces the time to Return of Spontaneous Circulation (ROSC), a critical factor in survival and long-term recovery. Supported by paramedic services across multiple regions, the trial compares current standard care practices with the use of IM epinephrine to determine if earlier administration enhances patient outcomes. This innovative approach has the potential to revolutionize pediatric cardiac arrest treatment and save lives.
